We were inspired by the lack of Keenness of Today's Modern Fashion excluding the Reflections of Indigenous Peoples. We are not all the same, Culturally we are different and our designs sometimes are reflected in mainstream but not being seen by our own likeness wearing these designs or pieces. This is not to be "Afro-Centric" or anti- anything. I am saying as a woman of color, I come from a very cultural expressed tribe of people who wore (and still wear) different garments and fabrics, jewelery not to be exploited by mainstream or Non Melanic designers to pass on as the latest fashion trend. I hate it when during a "fashion season" they want to use, for instance, mohikan shoes or the dream catcher in cloth or jewelery of Native Americans as if it wasn't their culture. I don't like that. Our clothing shouldn't be exploited into fashion. And if they want to use it, the models wearing it should identify with the garment of the culture they are wearing. We are dedicated in providing our own mirror like designs to those Melanic Women&Girls who want to wear cloth "outside the box" of mainstream and what they consider fashion. Our cultures most of the time make up their ideas of what type of fashion trend to set anyways, so we should embrace self expression tees that reflect deeper conscious sense then just the latest style or trend.
What are your thoughts about Mainstream using other cultural designs as "Season Fashion trends?
